Enloe on White

James White over at AOMin.org has compiled a bulleted list of some of the choice Enloevian rhetoric concerning White. Enjoy, if you must.

This sort of list should be kept in mind the next time we hear the pretentious calls from Communio Sanctorum, Tim Enloe, Kevin Johnson, etc, for charity, ecumenicity, catholicity, etc.

Steve Hays has more detailed comments here. As usual, Hays has good comments, even though he is doubtless a "RADICAL SECTARIAN GNOSTIC HOPELESSLY IN BONDAGE TO HIS MODERNISTIC PROPOSITIONS-BEAMED-BETWEEN-MINDS WHO SAYS I-DON'T-NEED-TO-EXAMINE-MY-ASSUMPTIONS-BECAUSE-I-DO-PURE-EXEGESIS-THAT-MECHANICALLY-OBTAINS-OBJECTIVE-TRVTH" type of guy. =)

Uh-oh! I can run, but I can't hide! The PP has found me out for the schismatical heretic and heretical schismatic that I obviously am. At the very least a name-change is in order--maybe nothing short of the witness protection program! :-)

Just don't adopt the name "Pedantic Protestant" --- that's taken!

What about the Protestant Pedant?

Would the Protestant Pedant be a radical sectarian gnostic or a sectarian gnostic radical?

If the former, then we're stepping on PedProt toes here. If the latter, well, you're welcome to that virgin territory!

Actually, many of Enloe's comments are not unjustified about White, nor White's about Enloe.

The problem with their interaction is, at the root, an issue of pride. Both men are extremely prideful and rarely (if ever) like to admit they might be wrong. Neither really knows each other and just like to sling proverbial mud at each other all in the name of "blogging." Obviously, this has become more than trying to disprove each other, but more of personally attacking each other.

Both are guilty and both are marring their own images. Taking what each says seriously must somehow be impossibly seperated from their own argumentative and pride-filled personalities.

CA: I'd be interested in a specific example where Dr. White was uncharitable to Tim Enloe.

BTW, CA, Tim Enloe was an associate of Dr White's for more than a year, so saying they "do not know each other" is somewhat overstated.

Hello CA:

I have some issues with how White does things and carries himself as well, but were I to make charges against him, I'd either do so in private, or in a fashion quite different than Enloe has adopted.

On the whole, I'll take my stand with White in a heartbeat rather than a know-it-all who speaks in the broadest generalities without getting specific.

The point about pride and such is well-taken. I make enough mistakes in lectures that are pointed out by the sharper undergrad and grad students to where my pride is rather smooshed into the ground!

Note Centuri0n's comment here about Enloe's past dealings with White, btw.

Thanks for dropping by.

Tim Enloe was an associate of James's (and Eric Svendsen's, Jason Engwer's, and David King's) for far more than a year. While I can't get so specific as to respective dates, it's closer to five years dating from the time of the "fallout", which in turn was now over two years ago.
